ARCHITECT: GILBERT STANLEY UNDERWOOD (1923-)
Bryce Canyon Lodge is one of the smaller lodges I have visited at a National Park.
It was first built as a promotion for the Union Pacific Railroad as part of their "Grand Tour" which included Bryce, Zion, and Cedar Breaks.
Unlike many National Park Lodges (like the Grand Canyon North Rim and Yellowstone), this lodge features no fantastic views of features the park.
Architecturally, it does have nice usage of stone and natural wood on a small scale.
The main lobby, though small, features a nice fireplace... the diningroom, an open beam ceiling with wood paneling.
The gift shop has a decent collection that ranges from nice local art pieces to tourist junk.
The meeting room has a simple but pleasant atmosphere about it.
